The creepy Occupy Wall Street protesters now have a specific list of demands. Allow me to humbly deconstruct each of them:

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages.

Have you ever heard of "Taft-Hartley", comrade? That was implemented by President Hoover and it ushered in the Great Depression of the 1930s. The reason tariffs fail is because other countries retaliate with tariffs of their own; a trade war results and you get a global depression. Tariffs are passed on to consumers with higher prices for everything imported. Besides, aren't you a "citizen of the world" who wants open borders? Why would you want to further impoverish folks in other countries, by restricting their exports?

Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hour.

Why only $20? Why not $40? $100? $1000? The problem with any minimum wage is that it puts people out of work -- the higher the wage, the more unemployment. A private employer can only hire someone at a wage less than the marginal contribution of that person's labor to their business. Otherwise the employer goes out of business. Most people earn more than the minimum wage because they are worth more, so the employer must pay them more in order to keep them from going to a competitor.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Obama tried take over one-sixth of the U.S. economy with ObamaCare. Almost every legislator who went along with this misguided scheme was voted out of office in 2010. While it proved politically impossible to immediately implement a "single payer" government monopoly, both Right and Left agree that ObamaCare will not work in its present form, insurers will eventually go bankrupt and a government monopoly will result. The Left is happy with such a government monopoly, the Right ... not so much.

When has government ever provided a service better than the private sector? Ask anyone in the military whether he would rather go to a private hospital or one in the Veterans Administration.

Michael Moore actually thinks Cuba's health care is superior to that in the U.S. That is just nuts. ObamaCare proponents rip U.S. health care by comparing mortality rates, yet if you control for violent deaths, the U.S. has a better record than most countries. We lead the world with the fewest deaths from major diseases such as cancer and heart attack.

The mandate for everyone to buy health insurance soon will be ruled un-Constitutional, because if government can do something that intrusive, then there is no limit on what else a government can do to the citizens. That would be the end of America's experiment in limited government, the Constitution will become meaningless, and we will live under the boot of tyrants. Yet without the mandate to broaden the base, ObamaCare is destined to fail economically.

That is why ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with a Constitutional plan which reduces health costs and improves delivery.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Sheer genius. Hey if everyone can sit around, watch TV and goof off, yet still get paid the same as someone who works his butt off, then who will be left to work, comrade? As Margaret Thatcher famously said: Socialism fails because eventually you run out of other people's money.

Demand four: Free college education.

Community colleges are almost free right now, comrade. In case you haven't noticed, the U.S. is broke; the Fed prints monopoly money from thin air or borrows from China, until they wise up and tear up our national credit card.

Why do your hypocritical Marxist professors demand such high salaries?

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy.

One word: "Solyndra". Obama's green energy star filed for bankruptcy less than 2 years after wasting over a half billion dollars of taxpayers' money, including a ample contribution to Obama's political campaign.

Another example of government's failure in energy policy is ethanol. While government pays billions to enrich corporate welfare queens like Archer Daniels Midland, ethanol subsides have done absolutely nothing do reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Even AlGore admit ethanol is a failure, because it costs more energy to produce than it yields.

The problem with doing away with economic incentives in favor of political ones, is that wasteful decisions then are done based upon crony capitalism and corruption. If politicians get to pick winners, then you can bet they will pick those who contribute to their campaigns for re-election. You can't just solve this by electing only honorable people, because you cannot repeal human nature.

Government must get out of the way and let the invisible hand of the free market work.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Please be patient; let the first Obama/Pelosi Trillion Dollar Porkulus work its magic as Obama promised.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

If the planet is in dire danger of burning to a crisp, why destroy all our nuclear power plants? Nuclear energy produces zero carbon emissions. Again where does all this money come from; America is broke.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Great idea. Currently certain folks are discriminated against in hiring and college admissions based upon skin color and gender. "Affirmative action" is a violation of the Constitutional rights of white males.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

If your plan is to collapse our already bankrupt economy, that is a great way to do it, comrade. So we guarantee everyone lots of free stuff, and allow anyone from anywhere in the world to stroll across our borders and claim it. Our fragile economic system would be quickly overwhelmed and would crash.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Sure comrade, let's do away will all of those new-fangled electronic gizmos, and go back to doing everything manually. Fancy electronic doo-dads can never be secured, which is why people are always stealing money out of my bank account from the ATMs. Let's also get rid of those dangerous iPads and go back to the abacus.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

If you can borrow money without ever having to repay it, then who will ever lend you money again? Say comrade, can I borrow a couple hundred dollars from you?

Currently the international securities markets are petrified that the tiny country of Greece might default on its debt, causing a financial contagion. Taking your goofy demand seriously and stiffing all holders of debt, would collapse civilization and put the world back into the Dark Ages.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

If a lender cannot determine whether you are a good credit risk, then he will need to raise interest rates on all creditors equally, just to make sure he earns a profit. Why should folks with good credit pay the same interest rates as the dead-beat stoned slackers?

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

Obama's "card check" legislation would have eliminated secret ballots in union elections. The purpose of having secret ballots, just like in other elections, is to provide every voter privacy and the chance to vote without intimidation from bullies. Many people who voted the "wrong" way in places like the Soviet Union, were never heard from again. That's not what we want in America.

No one should be forced to join a union. Paying union dues should be voluntary.

Today across the globe, banks are teetering on the verge of bankruptcy. For example, since the dastardly Bank of America was denied profits by Dodd-Frank, it now is struggling to make ends meet any way it can. B of A stock price is hovering around an all time low; investors fear they are insolvent, and will not even pay several multiples of book value for their common stock.

Now that 0bama's Marxist policies have failed and he is plummeting in the polls, the Marxists see one last chance to collapse our fragile, diverse free enterprise system and implement George Soros' centrally planned "New World Order". That chance is to pile on the banks and push as hard as they can, until it all collapses. The intent of the Marxists to destroy the Western free enterprise system was spelled out in the Cloward-Piven strategy long ago.

Notice that these items above, are presented as "demands" as if we no longer live in a representative democracy, and must obey what Obama's class warriors decree.

The American Trinity: Three Pillars of American Values

Dennis Prager, the insightful political commentator, has discovered something astounding:

The key to American exceptionalism is inscribed in tiny letters in a form owned by all Americans -- it's probably in your pocket right now. He calls it "The American Trinity", the three pillars of American Values. Indeed, the thing that makes America great is our unique value system.

The unique essence of America are inscribed on every copper penny:

"In God We Trust", "E Pluribus Unum", "Liberty"

In the world today there are three competing, incompatible value systems:

American values, Progressive values, and Islamic values.

Islamic values are centered around the Quran and the life of Muhammad. Everyone can see how miserably those have worked out. But about 1.5 billion people subscribe to these values and they are fanatical about enforcing adherence to their beliefs. If Americans are not equally confident in our own values, especially if we don't even know what our values are, then we are in serious trouble.

In the west the competition is between Conservative American values and Progressive (aka "Liberal") values. Progressive values dominate Europe, but have become increasingly fashionable in the U.S., especially with the election of President Barack Obama. Let's explore what comprises our uniquely American values:

In God We Trust
America was founded upon a belief in God as manifested in the Bible of the Judeo-Christian tradition. We know this because a belief in God is enshrined in the United States Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

So in America we believe that our rights were bestowed upon each of us by our Creator, not by man. Because if any man can grant you a right, as progressives believe, then such a man can also take away that right. Americans trust in God; progressives trust in ruling elites.

Progressives trust rule by elites, because they believe that certain groups are inherently wise and good while others are ignorant and bad. Conservatives believe that every person is an individual, not an interchangeable member of group which determines his character. Conservatives believe that while people are basically good, human nature disposes us to act in our own self interest most of the time. Conservatives believe there is nothing wrong with acting in our own self interest as long as we have a well developed sense of fairness.

Fairness implies that we find it unconscionable to take something we don't deserve. The American Free Enterprise system only works when there is predictable fairness, based upon natural law. This brings us back to the need for a belief in God or at least a foundation in Judeo-Christian values. The most important lesson of Christ was the Golden Rule: "Do unto others that which you would have done unto you".

So the American free enterprise system can only work, if the vast majority of people are willing to offer something of equal or greater value, in exchange for acquiring the good or service that they desire.

The very first amendment of the constitution guarantees freedom of religion, but Progressives have perverted that to mean freedom from religion. With the help of the American Civil Liberties lawyers, Progressives have spent millions prosecuting exercise of religion or anything remotely religious on public property. Progressives essentially have declared war on traditional faith by arguing that freely-chosen religious expression somehow is in violation of the Constitutional prohibition against Congressional establishment of religion.

E Pluribus Unum (From many, one)
Immigrants of all races and cultures have come to America from many lands. America has always welcomed immigrants, as we find inscribed on the Statue of Liberty ("Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...").

However, America also expects something in exchange from our immigrants: That they agree to become Americans and contribute to our greatness. We encourage all immigrants to remember their roots and revere their heritage. But we really don't care about their ethnicity. What we do care about is that they want to be one of us, to share the values which made us great, and participate fully in the grand American experience. That is why Conservatives reject multi-lingual education, because failing to learn English presents a significant barrier for immigrants to assimilate as Americans.

While Conservatives celebrate legal immigration, they are adamantly opposed to illegal immigration. This opposition arises largely because illegal immigration allows people to come into America without requiring that they learn our values. It allows illegals to keep their culture, their language, their values and live in barrios insulated from the rest of us. Illegal immigration builds walls instead of bridges.

Progressives promote "multi-culturalism", which is the permanent division of Americans into ethnic groups, based upon superficial characteristics such as race, national origin and language. Because Progressives don't believe America is anything special, they believe all cultures are to be equally celebrated. They send their children to college to learn about "Ethnic studies". They believe America is fundamentally flawed and mostly full of bigots, so they endlessly deconstruct American values, mock patriotic displays, and wouldn't be caught dead flying an American flag.

Liberty
Liberty (freedom) is a political environment in which the ability, for each individual to exercise free will, is maximized. Conservatives believe freedom is paramount because free will -- the capacity for an individual to choose among alternatives -- represents the unique essence of humanity. Were it not for our ability to choose, then humans would be no more exceptional than ants scurrying around in a colony.

Progressives however, believe in equality of result, even if liberty must be sacrificed. This Liberal idea known as Socialism or "social justice" really appeals to an ugly human emotion: envy. As Al Sharpton succinctly put it:

"The struggle is not over until we achieve equality ... the dream [of social justice] was to make everything equal in everybodys' house."

Socialism is defined as the ownership of the "means of production" by the "people". How does wealth get owned by someone other than the person who created the wealth? It's done using legalized theft. Like robbing a liquor store at gunpoint, socialism involves taking something that doesn't belong to you. But Progressives believe that they are not stealing because everything you earn already belongs to government, and the ruling elites get to decide how to distribute the booty.

As a corollary, Conservatives would define "greed" as wanting something for nothing -- taking something that does not belong to you and being unwilling to give anything of value in return. In contrast, a Progressive typically defines "greed" as having more "than you need"; and they get to decide how much you need.

This also explains why Progressives typically are soft on prosecuting crime. To a progressive, theft is just another way to distribute wealth from the "haves" to the "have-nots". Conservatives typically believe in "three strikes and you're out" and death penalty laws; whereas Libs believe in endless attempts at rehabilitation.

As another corollary, Conservatives believe in individual responsibility, because Liberty does not work unless each person is willing to take responsibility for his own actions or inaction. Progressives believe in collective responsibility; if someone does something wrong they will not blame the individual. Instead they will blame the injustice of society or perhaps the weapon used to commit the crime.

"Communism" is the end-game; the ultimate goal of Marxists. Communism is the supposed elimination of social classes by forced redistribution, not only of income, but of accumulated wealth and property as well. This has always involved extreme violence, because no one wants to work hard to achieve material wealth, only to have it taken away by a police state.

The reality is the some people will always manage to have far more wealth than others. The only question is who gets to the control the wealth -- the wealth producers or the politicians?

So while Conservatives believe that everyone is born equal, Progressives believe that big government must be used to enforce equality of results. In other words, Conservatives believe in freedom to pursue happiness; Progressives believe in mandated happiness through redistribution.

Each of us must decide what values we hold dear because we are at a historic crossroads which will decide the fate of America and the free world.

Marxists Infiltrate The Methodist Church

Here is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. In the following stunning video, Conservative Tea Party speaker Andrew Breitbart brings a protest to a complete halt by cleverly asking sign holders to perform the impossible: Explain the placards they were carrying.

Breitbart single-handedly confronted and shut down a deafening, chanting mob of protesters at a Conservative speaking event called "Right Nation 2010". Andrew Breitbart and Glenn Beck were speaking at the event held in Hoffman Estates, Illinois on September 20, 2010.

Before the event, about 150 people were protesting the supposed spreading of "hate" and "racism" -- you know, the typical unsupported lies smeared by Democrat "progressives" upon Conservatives. Then Andrew Breitbart, convinced that a counter protest was comprised of goofballs, paid to shout crap that they didn’t even understand, brilliantly confronts the group and asks them to explain the sentiment written on their signs. One-by-one he challenged them to provide "just one" example of the "hate" and "lies" of which they accused speaking guests, Breitbart and Beck. But alas no one could, so the humiliated, fake astroturf mob just collapsed!

Astounding! The union thug/"religious" leaders, quickly gathered their brood of confused chickens and the whole protest went home, even though earlier they had promised to explain their purpose in a "prayer meeting" at 5:30PM. So they boarded their four buses borrowed (after compensating taxpayers, I'm sure) from a local high school, and slunk back to their Democrat party bosses.

Never have I seen such conclusive evidence that "progressives" are fake, spineless, pitiful weasels.

Now the really disturbing thing, aside from the fact that the entire protest was promoted by Obama's "Organizing For America" Democrat campaign website, was that it was led by a band of Marxists wearing vestments of Methodist and Episcopal "ministers" calling itself "Keep Hate Out of the Debate."

The leader of the protest was "Reverend" C.J. Hawking, and her ancient helpers, "Reverend" Eugene Winkler and "Reverend" Rodney Reinhart. Reinhart, Rectum of St. Clement's Episcopal Church in Harvey, turned the other cheek proclaiming this gem of Christian love: "Let's not kid ourselves -- this is about racism. It's because we have a black man in the White House", Reinhart said in a pious imitation of the execrable Janeane Garofalo. Ironically while calling for an "end to hate", their own members were busy hurling expletives and homophobic slurs at the "Teabaggers". Gee Rodney, that's not very tolerant; what would Jesus say?

The "Reverend" Hawking said "[Beck] seems to want to spread fear, paranoia and divisiveness. We're here to say those are not values America was founded on." Hawking is the "Harry F. Ward(*) Social Justice" minister at Euclid Avenue Methodist Church in Oak Park, IL. She has long history in "faith-labor organizing" -- striking for Jesus. As Director of the SEIU-funded Interfaith Worker Justice local affiliate "Arise Chicago", Hawking has been a featured speaker at dinners honoring the Democratic Socialists of America. Here is C.J. Hawking, sans vestments, celebrating Marxism -- you know ... one of those "values America was founded on":

C.J. Hawking and her husband Steven K. Ashby are authors of "Staley", a book about a 1993-95 strike they led at a corn syrup manufacturer in Decatur, Illinois. The strike began when a foreman fired a worker for refusing to change a light bulb. That's right, because changing a light bulb is so complex and dangerous that it must have an electician and union work rules explaining exactly how to do it. These are the sort of insane union demands which have destroyed the U.S. manufacturing base and put millions out of work. The authors were so proud of their role, that they wrote a book about the strike, as a model for shutting down industry across America, with God's help. Unfortunately the union didn't help its own members, who were locked out for two years, as the company continued to operate just fine with replacement labor. Apparently the "scabs" didn't mind being "oppressed" by having to change light bulbs in exchange for receiving company paychecks and no deduction for dues.

Q: How many union thugs does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Don't be silly; that's not in their contract. Live better; work union.

Hawking and her sad little book "Staley" are celebrated in an article entitled "Prairie Fire". The article appears on web publication "In These Times", which promotes "social, environmental and economic justice" and opposes "the tyranny of marketplace values over human values". By pure coincidence, "Prairie Fire" is also the name of a book by their Chicago neighbor and Obama pal, Bill Ayers, a terrorist who dedicated this Marxist manifesto to Sirhan Sirhan, the ass wipe who murdered Senator Robert Kennedy in cold blood.

Eugene Winkler is Retired Senior Pastor of the Chicago Temple First United Methodist Church. Winkler and his gay agnostic buddy named Kevin Poloncarz, a wannabe scoutmaster, filed a lawsuit against both the City of Chicago and Department of Defense over the Boy Scouts.

So here we have a "man of God" suing on behalf of an agnostic, because the eevil Boy Scouts of America have a pledge which acknowledges a belief in God (oh my), and requires "morally straight" scoutmasters. Apparently Winkler, in his jihad against the Boy Scouts wanted to ensure that eventually the Scouts are served with a lawsuit by some distraught parent whose little boy is molested by his NAMBLA scoutmaster on a camp out.

Winkler has been active in the American Civil Liberties Union, and Citizen Action/Illinois whose mission statement holds that there is "collective good beyond our individual interests", and therefore exists to acquire "political power" to achieve "social justice".

You can see by their cowardly responses in the video, that blubber butt and her crew of old farts are trying to hide their nefarious true agenda. It's little wonder they are mad at Beck, who first warned America by exposing churches pushing their redistributionist, "social justice".

This is a disturbing example of a vast national movement in which "progressives" have co-opted our erstwhile trusted churches. Now instead of "do unto others what you would have them do unto you", the message is Robin Hood's "take from the 'rich' by the power of the police state and give to the 'poor'", while generously lining the pockets of yourselves and those doing the redistributing. So rather than promoting Christ's example of voluntarily offering charity to the less fortunate, the Methodist/ Episcopal church now largely is in cahoots with politicians seeking to buy votes by redistributing confiscated wealth.

While these pious posers supposedly are teaching God's word, in reality they are 19th century Marxists who learned nothing from the horror of the 20th century, and now push "social justice" -- a euphemism for forcibly taking away your property and liberty and giving it to union thugs, lawyers, stoned slackers and the ruling elite of the Democrat party.

C.J. Hawking and Eugene Winkler, are disciples of Satan, who have perverted the message of Christianity as they masquerade with Methodist vestments to champion discredited Marxist, secular progressive policies which have always led to moral decadence, violence and grinding squalor.

Who was Harry F. Ward?
According to Congressional testimony in July 1953:

The Methodist Federation for Social Action, originally called the Methodist Federation for Social Service, was first organized by a group of Socialist, Marxist clergymen of the Methodist church headed by Dr. Harry F. Ward. Dr. Ward was the organizer, for almost a lifetime its secretary and actual leader. He at all times set its ideological and political pattern. Its objective was to transform the Methodist Church and Christianity into an instrument for the achievement of socialism. It was established in 1907, 12 years before the organization of the Communist Party in the United States in 1919.

The outbreak of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in November 1917 had a tremendous effect upon the Socialist ministers of this organization and especially upon Ward. By 1920 Ward was cooperating and collaborating with the Communist Party. The Methodist Federation for Social Action assumed the leadership for setting up similar organizations in the other Protestant denominations.

Quite a few ministers participated in the American League Against War and Fascism, later called the American League for Peace and Democracy. In fact, they were so deeply involved through its chairman, Harry F. Ward, that they became the spokesmen -- the advocates, the builders, and the leaders of this most important Communist front that engaged in everything from simple assault on a government to espionage, sabotage and the overthrow of the Government of the United States.

For many years, Dr. Harry F. Ward was the chief architect for Communist infiltration and subversion in the religious field. His name appears in practically all the Communist-front or Communist Organizations.

Also, according to Wikipedia, Harry F. Ward was the first chairman of the ACLU, leading the group from its creation in 1920 until 1940. Ward was a prominent defender of Soviet Communism. In October 1939 Ward testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee, which concluded that the American League Against War and Fascism was a Communist front.

I attended the Restoring Honor Rally, in Washington D.C. on August 28, 2010, hosted by Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin; it was fantastic! What a wonderful, inspirational experience!

At first I was disappointed that the rally would not be political. But now I realize the brilliance of Beck's strategy: The message of the Tea Party movement is unassailable.

The vast majority of Americans are frightened and angry at Washington's out-of-control spending and borrowing from our children's future to buy votes.

So the only weapon, the Democrats had for countering our compelling message, was to portray Tea Party members as nut jobs and "racists". But the Beck rally effectively crushed that disgusting, bogus meme.

The Beck rally allowed the world to see that America is full of honorable, normal, sincere people of faith and their families, who just want the country to return to the magnificent vision of our founding fathers as expressed in the U.S. Constitution.

The crowd stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Memorial -- about a mile. The rally featured the stirring music of the renown Aaron Copland, including "Hoedown" from Rodeo and "Fanfare for the Common Man".

The rally was held on the same day as Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech and Glenn Beck honored Dr. King's dream of equal opportunity. Apparently Al Sharpton held a protest rally somewhere in the general area, but we never saw it. I'm pretty sure it was enormous though. Sharpton is somehow under the impression that he "owns" the MLK legacy.

Sharpton was upset that non-black people also dared to honor the great civil rights leader. If racial harmony can be allowed to exist, then Sharpton and his fellow race hucksters stand to lose out on the big bucks they make from milking bogus racist claims to extort millions. Sharpton would be out of a job and hafta pursue some paper-hat related line of work, consistent with his abilities.

Elsewhere in D.C. for some reason, Barack Obama bobble-heads were on sale at steep discounts.

Restoring honor can't come soon enough for America. As a Illinois state legislator, Barack Obama was a staunch NARAL supporter. Obama was the only legislator to speak on the floor of the state senate as an enthusiastic advocate for allowing infants, born alive during failed abortions, to die without any medical attention. Ask Nurse Jill Stanek what it is like to hold and rock a baby as it slowly suffocates.

The Obammunists shoved their nationalized health care obamanation down the throats of unwilling Americans. Now its our turn, so open wide Nancy Pelosi. And don't get too choked up; after all, we're only astroturf, remember?

Hey Libs! Remember us? We're the voters ... the peasants ... ya know? ... your boss. And we surround you. You "progressives" of both parties, are about to get crushed into the dust of history. So go try your Marxist madness again in another generation or two ... no make it never.

This attractive mother said she became active in the Tea Party movement when she realized that she needed to stop wondering why no one was doing anything about the fiscal and social destruction of America, and speak out herself. She became active in the movement to preserve liberty for her two little daughters. She was outraged by the disgusting attacks against Sarah Palin and others in the movement.

This distinguished gentleman spoke on behalf of the Orange County Taxpayers Association.

The event had a couple of infiltrators who everyone watched like a hawk. Here's a little tip to the genius opposition: If you want to try to blend in, don't smirk and fart around during the playing of the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance. Real Americans respect the flag, so you goofball losers stand out like dog poo on freshly fallen snow.

This magnificent actor appeared in full late 1700s garb and passionately delivered the entire speech of famed American patriot, Patrick Henry. "Give me Liberty or Give me death." What a treat!

This gentleman was the organizer of the event, who was "just a guy" in the audience the previous year. He encouraged us to fight the lies being used to sell the Obammunist agenda by stealth. He used a box of Girl Scout cookies as a prop to show that we need to demand that our government give us what was promised "on the box".

March on Washington D.C. - September 12, 2009

I attended the March on Washington D.C. on September 12, 2009! What a rush to be surrounded by several hundred thousand freedom loving Americans!

Later I was surprised (not) to learn that we were all actually mouth-breathing racists, according to Jimmy Carter and other asshole Liberals and assorted Obammunists. Looks like Jimmah is now in bed with insane troofers like Janeane "Awful" Garofalo.

I can testify that I saw no hint of racism anywhere. There were several blacks, including one nice guy from Alabama who told me he was running for Congress. Blacks were treated warmly like celebrities. Hopefully more minorities will join the movement when they realize that Liberals can only offer them envy, bitterness, enslavement and dependency in exchange for free stuff. And the free stuff is quickly running out, while our kids and grandkids are left picking up the tab for our selfish, wasteful gluttony.

There is a lot of controversy related to crowd size, but I'll put in my two cents.

I went to D.C. by myself, full of apprehensions about being a part of an embarrassingly small crowd, perhaps even outnumbered by counter-protesters. I was still apprehensive when I set out from the hotel with a group, of about 8 friendly people from Akron, Ohio, whom I met on the way. I became more encouraged after we went to McDonald's for breakfast and met several more small groups from cities and towns across the U.S.

The protest was to begin with a rally at 9:00AM at Freedom Plaza, the place was packed like sardines and I got separated from my little group of friends. The march to the capitol started at about 10:00AM. I got up on a planter to see the crowd and take pictures (see above). My plan was to wait until the crowd cleared somewhat, then jump in ... I was still waiting an hour later. It was amazing! I kept waiting for the crowd to clear, but they just kept coming and coming. From where? I guessed that they came from side streets, but I later learned that they also came from surrounding parks. And it was still early. Still others marched down alternate routes such as Constitution Avenue.

Pennsylvania Avenue was packed wall-to-wall all the way to the capitol from Freedom Plaza for over an hour. Anyone, who says there were just a few thousand, is just spinning MSM propaganda. There were easily over 300,000 folks and probably over a half million who eventually attended during the day-long event. I spoke with locals who exclaimed that they see protests every week, but they had never seen anything like this!

The ridiculous 75,000 estimate by the D.C. Fire Department was later debunked when the department themselves later released a statement that it was an early estimation specificly of Lafayette Park, not the total number of participants in the entire event. Lafayette Park is a relatively small park just north of the White House; the far larger Presidents Park was also completely filled to the south of the WH, as well as the crowded Freedom Plaza where I started.

Fortunately, the march was successful beyond my wildest dreams, and even the weather cooperated. My frame of reference is from football games; the crowd was the size of several football stadiums full of folks.

What you can see is that we surrounded the capitol, unlike B.O.'s inauguration of 1.5 million which filled the mall in the background (see the open, green area). On July 4th I attended a Tea Party Tax Protest and Liberty Celebration. I covered the event as a citizen journalist, since the MSM seemed to be busy with Michael Jackson's funeral and other more important matters. Yes, I looked for the Los Angeles Times reporters, but was shocked that I didn't see any.

The Tea Party took place at noon in a park in San Juan Capistrano, California. It drew about 400 folks and was organized by a lawyer lady who "claimed" not to be affiliated with any "astroturf" organization, but I'm pretty sure this had Karl Rove's fingerprints all over it. Bwahahaha.

The Carbonated Congress

President Obama is calling the climate bill that the House passed last week an "extraordinary" achievement, and so it is. The 1,200-page wonder manages the supreme feat of being both hugely expensive while doing almost nothing to reduce carbon emissions.

The Washington press corps is playing the bill's 219-212 passage as a political triumph, even though one of five Democrats voted against it. The real story is what Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House baron Henry Waxman and the President himself had to concede to secure even that eyelash margin among the House's liberal majority. Not even Tom DeLay would have imagined the extravaganza of log-rolling, vote-buying, outright corporate bribes, side deals, subsidies and policy loopholes. Every green goal, even taken on its own terms, was watered down or given up for the sake of political rents.

Begin with the supposed point of the exercise -- i.e., creating an artificial scarcity of carbon in the name of climate change. The House trimmed Mr. Obama's favored 25% reduction by 2020 to 17% in order to win over Democrats leery of imposing a huge upfront tax on their constituents; then they raised the reduction to 83% in the out-years to placate the greens. Even that 17% is not binding, since it would be largely reached with so-called offsets, through which some businesses subsidize others to make emissions reductions that probably would have happened anyway.

Even if the law works as intended, over the next decade or two real U.S. greenhouse emissions might be reduced by 2% compared to business as usual. However, consumers would still face higher prices for electric power, transportation and most goods and services as this inefficient and indirect tax flowed down the energy chain.

The sound bite is that this policy would only cost households "a postage stamp a day." But that's true only as long as the program doesn't really cut emissions. The goal here is to tell voters they'll pay nothing in order to get the cap-and-tax bureaucracy in place -- even though the whole idea is to raise prices to change American behavior. At the same time -- wink, wink -- Democrats tell the greens they can tighten the emissions vise gradually over time.

Meanwhile, Congress had to bribe every business or interest that could afford a competent lobbyist. Carbon permits are valuable, yet the House says only 28% of the allowances would be auctioned off; the rest would be given away. In March, White House budget director Peter Orszag told Congress that "If you didn't auction the permit, it would represent the largest corporate welfare program that has ever been enacted in the history of the United States."

Naturally, Democrats did exactly that. To avoid windfall profits, they then chose to control prices, asking state regulators to require utilities to use the free permits to insulate ratepayers from price increases. (This also obviates the anticarbon incentives, but never mind.) Auctions would reduce political favoritism and interference, as well as provide revenue to cut taxes to offset higher energy costs. But auctions don't buy votes.

Then there was the peace treaty signed with Agriculture Chairman Colin Peterson, which banned the EPA from studying the carbon produced by corn ethanol and transferred farm emissions to the Ag Department, which mainly exists to defend farm subsidies. Not to mention the 310-page trade amendment that was introduced at 3:09 a.m. When Congress voted on the bill later that day, the House clerk didn't even have an official copy.

The revisions were demanded by coal-dependent Rust Belt Democrats to require tariffs on goods from countries that don't also reduce their emissions. Democrats were thus admitting that the critics are right that this new energy tax would send U.S. jobs overseas. But instead of voting no, their price for voting yes is to impose another tax on imports from China and India, among others. So a Smoot-Hawley green tariff is now official Democratic policy.

Mr. Obama's lobbyists first acquiesced to this tariff change to get the bill passed. Afterwards the President said he disliked "sending any protectionist signals" amid a world recession, but he refused to say whether this protectionism was enough to veto the bill. Then in a Saturday victory lap, he talked about green jobs and a new clean energy economy, but he made no reference to cap and trade -- no doubt because he knows that energy taxes are unpopular and that the bill faces an even tougher slog in the Senate.

Mr. Obama wants something tangible to take to the U.N. climate confab in Denmark in December, but the more important issue is what this exercise says about his approach to governance. The President seems to believe that the Carter and Clinton Presidencies failed by fighting too much with Democrats in Congress. So his solution is to abdicate his agenda to Congress -- first the stimulus, now cap and trade, and soon health care. We wish he had told us he was running to be Prime Minister.

Apparently the aging pervert, Loserman, was "projecting" a bit since about five years ago he "knocked up" his own girlfriend, the lovely Regina Lasko, and failed to bother marrying her until recently.

The loud gaffaws from his Liberal audience in response to his "joke", shows that the execrable Loserman is a typical example of today's disgusting Leftists in America, who have no qualms about demonizing their political opponents -- even sexually smearing their children is fair game.

This bitter old man's popularity with Marxist Liberal apologists, and the willingness of his depraved sponsors to continue shoveling money to him, all demonstrate the double standards, moral bankruptcy, and fundamental lack of human decency common throughout the Left.

BERLIN — The French say they need the largest condoms in Europe while Greeks get by on smaller ones, according to a Europe-wide study by a German consultancy that provides advice on condoms.

The study by the Singen-based Institute of Condom Consultancy was done by asking 10,500 men in 25 countries to measure their penis and enter the number into a database.
The results show Frenchmen on average claim to need 15.48 centimeters (6.09 inches) long condoms, about 3 centimeters longer than Greeks, whose condom size requirement was the most modest.
Jan Vinzenz Krause, the Institute's director, told Reuters on Friday the data was collected over a period of eight months.
He did not want to comment on how honest he thought the Frenchmen had been in reporting the data.
The survey was aimed at educating youngsters about the importance of effective contraception.
The institute also offers online condom-size advice and hosts "Pimp Your Condom" — an annual fair organized in cooperation with the national AIDS Trust — with the aim of educating teens about sexually transmitted diseases.

Two UCLA economists say they have figured out why the Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, and they blame a suspect previously thought to be beyond reproach: President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

After scrutinizing Roosevelt's record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years.

"Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery, and because we never really knew the reason, we have always worried whether we would have another 10- to 15-year economic slump," said Ohanian, vice chair of UCLA's Department of Economics. "We found that a relapse isn't likely unless lawmakers gum up a recovery with ill-conceived stimulus policies."

In an article in the August issue of the Journal of Political Economy, Ohanian and Cole blame specific anti-competition and pro-labor measures that Roosevelt promoted and signed into law June 16, 1933.

"President Roosevelt believed that excessive competition was responsible for the Depression by reducing prices and wages, and by extension reducing employment and demand for goods and services," said Cole, also a UCLA professor of economics. "So he came up with a recovery package that would be unimaginable today, allowing businesses in every industry to collude without the threat of antitrust prosecution and workers to demand salaries about 25 percent above where they ought to have been, given market forces. The economy was poised for a beautiful recovery, but that recovery was stalled by these misguided policies."

Will you please take the time to read this, and if you think it worthwhile, pass it along to your email list, and ask them to read it? Even if they voted, with all good intentions, for Mr. Obama?

I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)

Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.

"Well once again the RNC has handed us a shit candidate for president.

From this point on I am no longer a Republican. I am now an Independent, still conservative, but Independent. Being a conservative means having principles, and one of those principles is NOT "winning at any cost". And a "win" with McCain is a cost to dear to pay. And I cannot consider that event a "win".

I now know how Reagan must have felt when he said, "I didn't leave the Democratic party, they left me". And so has the Republican party left me."

McCain. The one who tried to sneak amnesty for illegals past us in the dark of night. The one whose traitorous gang of 14 made us let go of the dems throats when we had them pinned against the wall. The one who tried to defund the Republican party with McCain/Feingold, the bill that limits free speech and aids incumbents.

"This SHOULD be a major wake up call for Conservatives. The blame is to be placed squarely on the RNC. They have allowed our candidates to be filtered through the left before we even get to vote on them. A MAJOR shakeup is required at the RNC. Even in spite of Republicans repeatedly getting elected when they stick to conservative values, they somehow STILL think the way to get elected is to emulate liberals."

You'll note that almost ALL the Rino's lost Tuesday. Gone are the northeast liberal Republicans.
Mitch McConnell is still there, as is Michelle Bachmann. Prop. 8 in California passed. Conservatives or conservative ideas WON everywhere they were available choices.

Now the finger pointing and backstabbing are coming to a fore. AND not only from the libs as one might expect, but from the insiders and politicos in our OWN party. They're trying to blame Sarah Palin for McCains loss claiming she drug down the campaign.
You remember the pictures of the absolutely HUGE turnout at McCain events before Sarah don't you? You don't? That's because his miserable excuse for a campaign didn't have any turnout before Sarah. And what's more, the accusations being flung are not even issue oriented, they're PERSONAL attacks. Pesonal attacks by "unamed sources" in McCains campaign staff. And so far, I still haven't heard McCain condemn them. They were roundly condemned when they tried to bring up Obama's associations and past statements, why is Sarah fair game for personal attacks when Obama was not on legitimate issues? If McCain does not condemn these people he's even a bigger asshole than I thought he was.

Let these people man up and grow a pair. Lets see them put their NAMES behind what they're saying. They're cowards plain and simple.

Tytler notes that the final stage in the demise of a democracy is a return to bondage. Obama will appoint activist judges to infringe our first and second amendment rights.

The Democrats will enact legislation to muzzle radio, television and the internet. Look for a return to the "Fairness Doctrine" and imposition of high fees on the airwaves. Look for a push for national firearms registration as a prelude to confiscation of all privately owned guns. Look for stronger "environmental" and eminent domain laws designed to usurp the right to privately owned real estate. Look for nationalization of the financial, health care, pharmaceutical, insurance and energy industries. Look for a huge stealth tax on carbon to address the bogus global warming problem. Look for quick passage of Obama's H.R. 800 which will force all working folks to pay union dues to corrupt union bosses by using the power of open ballot intimidation.

Also look for at least one noisy flag-waving American to be fighting Obama's decadent "Change" every step of the way.

The Obama Tax "Cut"

I have studied the Obama tax plan and something interesting appears to emerge:

Single folks with taxable income over $116,000 will probably see their taxes go up by 3% on their income over this amount!

The following is how I arrived at this. According to the Obama tax plan:

1) The top two brackets will rise from 33 to 36% and from 35 to 39.5% whereas the other brackets will remain the same.

2) Taxes for families (ie. Married Joint filers) will not increase if they earn less than $250,000. This promise will be difficult to jettison like Bill Clinton did with his "middle class tax cut", because Obama has published it on his web site and it appears in his campaign ads.

But to arrive at the corresponding taxable income bracket for those who don't itemize, take 250,000 and reduce it for the 2008 standard deduction of 10,900 and less two personal exemptions at 3,500 and you get taxable income of 232,100. Since taxable income for single filers is about half that of married filing joint, then 232,100 / 2 = 116,050. I believe this change will be made retroactive to the beginning of 2009.

3) Taxes on lower brackets have been promised a variety of tax credits, although probably less generous than Obama has promoted, at least in the first 2-3 years of his presidency. This is because he will want the economy to suffer from tax increases early in his presidency so he can blame the previous president, then allow time for the economy to recover in time for the election. Later in his presidency he will also grant his tax credit give aways for the lower brackets so he can get credit for doing that right before the next election. Expansion of the earned income credit means that po' folks who pay no taxes, will get a handsome bonus check from those who do.

The good news is that I believe that the stock market has already fallen to reflect this tax on productivity as well as the coming increase in capital gains taxes.

So I believe the stock market will now rise somewhat from its over-correction, but not rise and remain at the earlier levels for 2 to 4 years, depending upon the political situation.

Since Obama may have a "mandate" and will probably control both houses of Congress, I feel certain he will attempt to damage the economy in the interests of fairness, raise the minimum wage, nationalize health care, eliminate the right of workers to silent votes on union ballots, etc.

Also look for massive stealth taxes on energy like Bill Clinton attempted, but this time in order to fight the "global warming" boogeyman. Everyone will pay these taxes indirectly, as part of the price built into everything we buy, and much of the new revenue will end up in the general fund to buy votes.

However this Marxist over-reach, in combination with outrageous Supreme Court appointments, will incur the ire of the voters, and result in a Republican backlash in the Congressional elections of 2010. If the Republicans can take back Congress, then the market and the economy may really take off, in a scenario like we had in 1994.

But we undoubtedly will have extraordinary inflationary pressures once the economy recovers, and the full effect of out-of-control federal spending and borrowing becomes understood. This will lead to an increase in value of real estate, gold, and some common stock. Anyone holding a low rate fixed income mortgage will benefit, since he will be able to repay his mortgage with inflated dollars. But anyone on a pension or holding fixed rate, long term obligations will suffer.

Personally, I can manage my income by reducing my workload and opt for more leisure time, and arrange my finances to avoid the tax and inflation traps, so I am feeling optimistic again!

But certainly, other folks will be glad to pay more taxes because, according to Joe Biden, it is the patriotic thing to do.

An American Carol

A Review By Freedom Fan

An American Carol opened Friday, October 3 and I decided it was my duty as an American Conservative to go see it. I wasn't expecting much, but when I thought of the bravery it must have taken for all the big Hollywood names to come out of the closet as Conservatives, I felt it was the least I could do. I was delightfully surprised. I got there on time, so took one of the last available seats in the crowded theater, populated mainly by middle aged folks like me.

An American Carol is a parody on Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol in which an America-hating Michael Moore Scrooge character, "Michael Malone" is visited by great Americans throughout history and 'gently urged' to repent his sins. Malone is campaigning to end the celebration of the Fourth of July because America's past and present are too offensive to celebrate.

The movie is narrated by Leslie Nielson and stars Jon Voight as George Washington, Kelsey Grammar as Patton, country singer Trace Adkins as the Angel of Death, Bill O'Reilly as himself, Robert Davi as the terrorist leader, with celebrity cameos by Dennis Hopper, James Woods, Gary Coleman, and Paris Hilton.

I remember David Zucker's movie Airplane! which at first I thought was one of the most irreverently funny movies I had seen, until the predictable slapstick got kinda boring, and needed much better editing toward the end. But Zucker did not make the same mistake in An American Carol, which was poignantly funny all the way through. Zucker's other movies include The Naked Gun, Scary Movie, Police Squad, Top Secret, and many sequels.

True, the Michael Moore character, "Michael Malone", was slapped or met with random violence about 1,033 times, but curiously, I never seemed to tire of this device. Kevin Farley, brother of the late Chris Farley, played the character brilliantly.

It probably doesn't bother Michael Moore to be thought by millions to be a goofball 'America-hater', but undoubtedly he will be disturbed at the way the movie relentlessly dismisses him as merely a maker of 'documentaries' rather than real feature movies.

Here are some of my favorite parts:

* A parody on Rosie O'Donnell who is such an extreme leftist whacko that she even embarrasses leftist whacko Michael Moore. Then a skit ridicules her familiar leftist mantra that Christians are even more dangerous than Islamic fundamentalists.

* A musical number performed by the faculty of Columbia U. (they actually use that name) tells students that they automatcially get extra credit if they're "poor, black or gay."

* A skit ripping the leftist "War Is Never The Answer" mantra, in which Malone visits slaves on his own modern day cotton plantation, after Lincoln negotiated with the South rather than fighting the Civil War.

* When a Hollywood actor accepts an award and congratulates Hollywood for being 'brave' by ripping nazis and other assorted erstwhile boogeymen while totally ignoring Islamist terrorists who might actually threaten any Hollywood type who accurately represented them. (Hopefully actors in this film will not themselves be in danger from Islamists.)

* A patriotic country song by Trace Adkins during which the audience is panned to reveal singing ghosts of American soldiers from present day back through each of the wars back to the birth of the U.S.

In the theater, the movie received a spontaneous burst of loud applause at the end, which I thought was very cool.

If you are a leftist professor, Hollywood actor, mainstream media type, or other assorted leftist moonbat, get your chuckles off at some Oliver Stone or Bill Maher or one of thousands of similar Liberal flicks instead. I have more important things to do ... like pick up pet poop.

However, if you are a Conservative, run immediately ... do not pass 'go' ... see the movie today!

Sarah Palin Visits Southern California!

Sarah Palin spoke to an overflow crowd of about 30,000 Southern Californian supporters (per the Fire Marshall). Unfortunately, the smaller of the two venues only held 15,000.

Classy actor, Jon Voight, was there to support Palin. But somewhat surprisingly, Palin was introduced by Shelly Mandell, National Organization for Women chairperson, (N.O.W., Southern California chapter), a Democrat who declared Palin to be a feminist.

Palin supporters braved the drizzle and the assaults by air and bullhorn from lunatic Liberals.

When I heard the event was at the Home Depot Center, I expected to see some of the guys who helped me build my garage. However the event was held at a large sports arena sponsored by Home Depot.

In the previous post by Volt we learn that leftist radicals Cloward and Piven designed the role of Community Organizer to organize the dregs of humanity in order to maximize their government handouts, identify new beneficiaries and create new benefits, and ultimately force the overly stressed "social safety net" to collapse, leading to a socialist totalitarian state. So would Jesus really be cool with that, lady?

This reminded me of the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz ... "Go Home Dorothy!". Actually this was some rich, dishonest Liberal attempting to use the name "Sarah Palin" to somehow discredit California Prop 4, "Sarah's Law", which would require parental notification 48 hours prior to performing an abortion on a minor. However, the "Sarah" in Sarah's Law was a little girl in Texas who died on the abortion table. But her parents were eventually notified ... to come pick up their daughter's body.

Spend a moment to savor the full moonbat irony. On the left you have a Leftist bigot with a sign: "Christianity= Paganism= Heathens= Nazis Burn In Hell". Below that you have another Leftist whacko with a sign "Power to the Peaceful". Then you have the Leftist whackos all upset about how Alaskans cull wolf packs, while the abortion zealots circle overhead with a Palin mischaracterization.

"Jesse Jackson" appeared at the event and threatened to "cut off the balls" off all McCain-Palin (Bush III) supporters. This fan was not too concerned, since she does not have any balls, but I'd allow that her gonads are substantially bigger than his.

Douglass K. Daniel, a Liberal Associated Press "reporter" later characterized her statement as "racist" because obviously, all terrorists are "dark-skinned", even though Ayers is "white" ... Confusing isnt' it? Well it's an unbiased MSM "journalist" thing -- you wouldn't understand.

Unfortunately, I fear that we shall soon see Obama's vision for America quite clearly; it will be a chimera unlike anything our founding fathers would recognize.

When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. Perhaps that word has a nonstandard meaning to someone whose home adjoined the property of convicted swindler Tony Rezko, but extracting money by force from someone who earned it in order to give it to someone who didn't is not usually spoken of as neighborly. If Citizen Obama, "sitting pretty," reaches into his own pocket and helps out the waitress with a large tip, he has shown a neighborly spirit. But there is nothing neighborly about using the tax code to compel someone else to pay the waitress that tip.

Taxation is not generosity, it is confiscation at gunpoint. Does Obama not understand the difference?

Perhaps he doesn't. Eager though he may be to compel "neighborliness" in others, he has not been nearly so avid about demonstrating it himself. Barack and Michelle Obama's tax returns show that from 2000 through 2004, when their adjusted gross income averaged nearly a quarter of a million dollars a year, their annual charitable donations amounted to just $2,154 - less than nine-tenths of 1 percent. Not until he entered the US Senate in 2005 and began to be spoken of as a presidential possibility did the Obamas' "neighborliness" become more evident. (In 2005-2007, they gave 5.5 percent of their income to charity.)

Obama claims his proposal would lower taxes for 95 percent of Americans, but well over 43 million tax returns, one-third of all those filed, already reflect an income tax liability of zero. In fact, Obama says, his plan would eliminate income taxes for an additional 10 million taxpayers. What he is really proposing, therefore, is not tax relief but a bald transfer of cash - $1,000 per family, he pledges - from the wealthiest Americans to everyone else...

[Y]ou don't have to be rich to be skeptical when a candidate argues that the top 1 percent of taxpayers, who already pay 40 percent of federal income taxes, aren't being taxed enough. Nor do you have to be an economist to wonder about the grasp of a nominee who tells 95 percent of the public that they can have something for nothing. Obamanomics may look pretty at first glance. But voters are focusing more closely now, and they can see beyond the lipstick.

"THE PRIVATE SECTOR got us into this mess. The government has to get us out of it."

That's Barney Frank's story, and he's sticking to it. As the Massachusetts Democrat has explained it in recent days, the current financial crisis is the spawn of the free market run amok, with the political class guilty only of failing to rein the capitalists in. The Wall Street meltdown was caused by "bad decisions that were made by people in the private sector," Frank said; the country is in dire straits today "thanks to a conservative philosophy that says the market knows best." And that philosophy goes "back to Ronald Reagan, when at his inauguration he said, 'Government is not the answer to our problems; government is the problem.' " ...

Because while the mortgage crisis convulsing Wall Street has its share of private-sector culprits they weren't the ones who "got us into this mess." Barney Frank's talking points notwithstanding, mortgage lenders didn't wake up one fine day deciding to junk long-held standards of creditworthiness in order to make ill-advised loans to unqualified borrowers. It would be closer to the truth to say they woke up to find the government twisting their arms and demanding that they do so - or else.

The roots of this crisis go back to the Carter administration. That was when government officials, egged on by left-wing activists, began accusing mortgage lenders of racism and "redlining" because urban blacks were being denied mortgages at a higher rate than suburban whites.

The pressure to make more loans to minorities (read: to borrowers with weak credit histories) became relentless. Congress passed the Community Reinvestment Act, empowering regulators to punish banks that failed to "meet the credit needs" of "low-income, minority, and distressed neighborhoods." Lenders responded by loosening their underwriting standards and making increasingly shoddy loans. The two government-chartered mortgage finance firms, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, encouraged this "subprime" lending by authorizing ever more "flexible" criteria by which high-risk borrowers could be qualified for home loans, and then buying up the questionable mortgages that ensued.

All this was justified as a means of increasing homeownership among minorities and the poor. Affirmative-action policies trumped sound business practices. A manual issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston advised mortgage lenders to disregard financial common sense. "Lack of credit history should not be seen as a negative factor," the Fed's guidelines instructed. Lenders were directed to accept welfare payments and unemployment benefits as "valid income sources" to qualify for a mortgage. Failure to comply could mean a lawsuit.

As long as housing prices kept rising, the illusion that all this was good public policy could be sustained. But it didn't take a financial whiz to recognize that a day of reckoning would come. "What does it mean when Boston banks start making many more loans to minorities?" I asked in this space in 1995. "Most likely, that they are knowingly approving risky loans in order to get the feds and the activists off their backs . . . When the coming wave of foreclosures rolls through the inner city, which of today's self-congratulating bankers, politicians, and regulators plans to take the credit?"

Frank doesn't. But his fingerprints are all over this fiasco. Time and time again, Frank insisted that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in good shape. Five years ago, for example, when the Bush administration proposed much tighter regulation of the two companies, Frank was adamant that "these two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis." When the White House warned of "systemic risk for our financial system" unless the mortgage giants were curbed, Frank complained that the administration was more concerned about financial safety than about housing.

Now that the bubble has burst and the "systemic risk" is apparent to all, Frank blithely declares: "The private sector got us into this mess." Well, give the congressman points for gall. Wall Street and private lenders have plenty to answer for, but it was Washington and the political class that derailed this train. If Frank is looking for a culprit to blame, he'll find one suspect in the nearest mirror.

Yesterday, I asked a fellow blogger if she could think of any more rotten things the left could do to Sarah Palin. I was being sarcastic. My point was that leftists had been so creative and so cruel, it was hard to think of anything new for them to do. Wow, was I wrong.

They accused her of pretending her daughter's baby was hers. They said she should have stayed home having babies, instead of governing a state. They compared her to the political-machine stooge (close kin to a community organizer) who had Jesus scourged and delivered Him up for crucifixion. Then they hacked into her email account, and leftist blogs put the emails on display, claiming they were "legitimate news."

Now we learn that Sanda Bernhard is publicly joking about Governor Palin being gang-raped by Bernhard's "big black brothers." And people are paying to hear this crap. Not many; it looks like she's appearing in one of those clubs that used to be a Pack-n-Ship or a Mrs. Field's, but still...

What is the point of making a joke like this? What merit is there in the joke, that justifies putting that horrible image in our minds, and in the minds of Governor Palin's kids? What will we joke about next? Raping children? Auschwitz?

What exactly did Sarah Palin do, to deserve the treatment she has received from the left? She accepted an invitation to run for public office. That's her crime. She didn't shoot up a day care center. She didn't bomb the World Trade Center. She didn't--let me pull an example out of a hat--bomb the Pentagon, publicly confess it, and state that she wished she had done more. She didn't steal documents from the National Archives. She didn't commit perjury and get disbarred. She didn't con the government out of hundreds of thousands of dollars for a bogus land deal in Arkansas. She didn't encourage Los Angeles residents to riot, shouting "No justice, no peace!" She didn't hit a security officer on her way into the Capitol. She wasn't involved in the first and only real "Troopergate." She didn't hide $90,000 in bribe money in her freezer. She didn't steal furniture from the White House, or vandalize it before a new administration moved in. She just answered the call, when her party and her country needed her.

It's a wonder anyone is willing to run for office as a Republican. Look at the treatment our candidates and politicians get. If the kooks don't get you, unethical prosecutors will. And the press will turn a blind eye, and sometimes, they'll aid in the persecution.

What an education her kids are getting. Liberals present themselves as warm and loving people who care about all the trees and bunnies, and who protect the downtrodden from mean old Republicans, who want to return to the feudal system. But there is nothing warm and loving about the way liberals are treating Sarah Palin. It's no exaggeration to say they display more hatred for her than they do for Osama bin Laden.

Governor Palin's treatment is an ominous reminder of the way the hard left wishes to treat those who disagree with it. It reminds us that killing fields and gulags can happen here, too. If Bill Ayers were in charge, we would have had those things forty years ago. And it looks like Sandra Bernhard would approve.

What ever happened to perspective? When did Americans decide that the need to win an election justified this kind of vile behavior?

Another question: what does Sandra Bernhard think of black men? It seems pretty obvious. She thinks they gang-rape people for trivial reasons. I'm trying to think of a more depraved example of racism, but I'm drawing a blank. This is a person who feels solidarity with blacks? She cares about them and respects them and empathizes with them, but she thinks she can count on them to rape a visiting governor. Black people should rejoice, having a friend who thinks so highly of them. I wonder what the Obamas thought of her remarks.

I already hoped Sarah Palin would win, because I support her politically. But now I hope she wins because her enemies are so vicious. I don't want to see them rewarded.

I wonder if we can make it to Monday without a new story about someone sliming or threatening or mistreating Sarah Palin. I hope so, but I wouldn't bet my lunch money on it.

As long as the venue paid ASCAP for using the song, the Wilson sisters have no legal recourse.
(as long as it's not used in an actual advertisement) And the news coverage of the RNC event amounts to "fair use". If they didn't want it used at all in a political context they should have had a "non political" clause included like Neil Diamond does.
Also, they may not be all together on this anyway. I've been reading at least two of the band members don't really care.

Turn Our Country Around.

The choice is clear. Stay with the Bush-McCain race to the bottom or raise up the whole country with a landslide defeat of the Republican ultra-right on November 4.

A new day is dawning. Our country is at a turning point. This is a time of great possibility. Across the land, people are coming together to reshape our nation’s priorities to make government “of, by and for the people” a reality.

From the Midwest to the South, from coast to coast, in big cities and rural communities voters have turned out in record numbers for change.

A landslide vote on November 4 can open the way to recovery from the very deep wounds of the Bush administration and decades of corporate right-wing control.

There is a crisis in every critical area of national life. Profits at the top are record high, but families can’t make ends meet. Trillions are squandered in Iraq, but 45 million are without health care. Billions are spent on tax breaks to the super rich, but working families are losing their homes and young people can’t afford higher education.

Working people want bold new policies to end war restore democratic traditions and create green living wage jobs, affordable housing, healthcare and quality education for everyone.

EMERGENCY PROGRAM TO REPAIR, RENEW AND REBUILD

Major clean, affordable energy development project for solar, wind and biomass electricity generation. Immediate program to cut greenhouse gas emissions and for environmental cleanup. Restore Federal energy regulation and encourage public ownership of utilities.

Enact the Employee Free Choice Act to enable workers to form unions without intimidation and win higher wages and benefits, dignity and respect.

Enact HR 676 the US National Health Insurance Act to provide universal health insurance with single-payer financing. Fully fund public education from pre-school through higher education and technical training. No privatization of Social Security or Medicare. Expand and improve benefits.

3. Restore Civil Rights, the Bill of Rights and Separation of Powers

Restore Civil Rights Act enforcement, affirmative action in employment, education, and housing. End the “school to prison” pipeline. Outlaw hate crimes. Preserve Roe v. Wade.

Pass immigration reform with legalization, a path to citizenship, due process, no militarization of the borders, and no exploitative guest worker programs. No human being is illegal.

Repeal Patriot Act. Restore Habeas Corpus rights. No more torture. Investigate and prosecute Bush administration violations of the Constitution.

Expand voting rights. Enact publicly financed elections, same day registration, voting rights for ex-felons, verifiable voting equipment, and instant runoff voting. Restore Fairness Doctrine in media.

4. Strength through Peace

Withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq with no bases or U.S. corporations left behind. Full care for returning veterans. No war on Iran or expansion of troops in Afghanistan. Assistance to Iraqi people to rebuild their country.

Adopt a new foreign policy of diplomacy and respect for all nations, instead of preemptive war for corporate interests. Renew commitment to UN peace role.

End trade policies that enrich corporations while destroying jobs. Ratify Kyoto Treaty and other climate change agreements.

Enforce nuclear non-proliferation, work to abolish nuclear weapons. Cut Pentagon spending in half, close down US bases around the world.

Vote November 4 as if your life, and your future, depend on it!

Defeating the right wing is the first step in the struggle to end exploitation, poverty, racism and war.

Optimism About Gas Prices Trumps Pessimism Every Time

The cost of gas is exorbitant. If we want lower gas prices, there’s an easy way to do it.

How many of us wallow in our fear-mongering and still believe that any oil drilling will decimate the pristine coasts. If they’re not worried about beaches, there worried about OPEC. Or about how using more oil will produce more CO2 and produce more anthropogenic global warming? Or that we’re rapidly approaching “peak-oil”? “Use” or “lose” 68 million acres of dormant leases?

How utterly gloomy.

We know that drilling is prohibited on 85% of America’s offshore waters. From sources of James Inhofe (Senate Committee on Environment) the Pacific and Atlantic regions of the Outer Continental Shelf hold an estimated 14 billion barrels of oil which are equivalent to over 25 years of imports from Saudi Arabia. ANWR is estimated to contain at least 10 billion barrels of oil, or 15 years of imports from Saudi Arabia. If Clinton hadn’t vetoed legislation on ANWR oil 10 years ago, today we would have 1 million barrels/day coming in from ANWR. Even conservative estimates (MMS) show that between 1.57-2.78 billion barrels of oil exist off Florida’s coast.

The Canadian Oil Sands contain 179.2 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. The Energy Independence and Security Act prohibits federal agencies from procuring an alternative fuel produced from non-conventional petroleum sources. Today, eight countries (India, Vietnam, Spain, Malaysia, Norway, Cuba, China and Canada) are exploring, leasing or drilling for oil in the Cuban waters just 45 miles off the coast of Florida. In the Green River Formation (Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah), the Rand Corporation estimates that 1.1 trillion barrels are recoverable at prices as low as $35-$48/barrel within the first 12 years of commercial scale production.

The reason Democrats use for not drilling is hypothetical environmental problems. Major spills from drilling platforms actually are non-existent. Two massive category-5 hurricanes (Katrina and Rita) recently plowed through the heart of 3000 Gulf of Mexico oil and gas platforms just 4 weeks apart (Investors’ Business Daily). There were no problems, mainly due to the new ‘breakaway’ technology used by rigs. New automatic cutoff valves eliminate any spill.

Norway and Britain have been in the North Sea for decades without incident. The National Academy of Sciences found that 63% of petroleum found in North American waters comes from natural seepage from the ocean floor. The Department of the Interior said, “Since 1985 more than 7 billion barrels of oil have been produced from federal waters with less than 0.001 % spilled.” It’s likely that more oil has leaked from transportation vehicles than was spilled in the oceans. Almost all offshore oil rigs have become havens for fish and marine wildlife.

How many forget that when Prudhoe Bay was first opened up, OPEC’s price of oil plummeted. When ANWR begins drilling and producing, expect a major drop in oil prices. With another supplier to America, the law of Supply and Demand really kicks in. OPEC controls most oil pricing, but is not controlled by any one government. And, caribou in Alaska are increasing because of warmer temperatures near the pipeline.

Per Inhofe, Democrats seem to want to shift the blame when they claim there are 68 million acres in America where oil companies have bought the rights to drill, but are just sitting on those leases. Recent oil finding techniques reveal where there is no oil to be had. “Between 2002-2007, 52% of all exploration wells...were dry. By opening the nation’s access to the reserves of the Outer Continental Shelf, ANWR, and Oil Shale, we could cut our nations trade deficit nearly in half.” The Energy Information Association says the US spent $327 billion in 2007 to import oil. These oil imports were 46% of the nation’s $711 billion trade deficit in 2007.

It’s interesting that a very close study of the last 500,000 years has revealed that all anthropogenic global warming has been almost non-existent and warming and cooling is directly due to the sun. It’s even more mystifying how overlays of CO2 concentrations with temperature have usually shown CO2 levels increasing after the temperature spikes.

But the Democrats in Congress refuse to increase our supply of energy, and our gas prices keep rising. Recent polls from Rasmussen reveal that 67% of Americans want to drill offshore, while only 18% do not. But because of regulations in America, OPEC realizes that gas prices can be skewed. In the US gas averages $4.02/ gal, while in China it’s $2.84/gal, in Indonesia it’s $2.44, in Mexico it’s $2.65, and in Venezuela it’s only $0.20 (Inhofe). And, you don’t get natural seepage from the ocean floor by reaching “peak-oil”. Anybody ever heard of “abiotic”?

It seems that even rogue corporations like OPEC still have to bow to the law of Supply and Demand if Congress allows America to drill for available oil.

I just have to comment on the latest bullshit over at Lydia Cornell's blog...

They seem to think anyone who doesn't truly KNOW Obama's a very devout Christian is "beneath contempt" as one hate monger put it.

Firstly, I've NEVER ever met the man. We don't go knock back a cold one on fridays or shoot pool or anything. Didn't go to school together, never even crossed paths that I'm aware of. Unbelievable huh?
I know, I know, Illinois is a very small state way out there in "fly over" country. Surely we're best buds or something right? Uh, no.

So, just how the HELL am I supposed to KNOW what his faith is or what it means to him? I don't period.
Sure, I know what the media say's about him, and we all know they tell only the absolute truth right?

So anyway, I say "I believe he's a Christian" and "I believe he was raised a Christian". Not good enough.
Evidently merely "believing" he's a Christian means you're intimating he's a muslim and is "beneath contempt" with this group.

So now they try to smear me by claiming they "don't believe I'm a baby raper", or they "think I'm not a child molester". So if you don't KNOW with undoubted CERTAINTY that Obama is a EXTREMELY devout Christian, you sir are a child molester and a baby raper according to Lydia Cornell's goon squad. That's LYDIA CORNELL. You know, god is love, there is no evil, narrow is the gate?

Report: Uranium Stockpile Removed From Iraq in Secret U.S. Mission

The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program — a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium — reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.

The removal of 550 metric tons of "yellowcake" — the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment — was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.

What is now left is the final and complicated push to clean up the remaining radioactive debris at the former Tuwaitha nuclear complex about 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Baghdad — using teams that include Iraqi experts recently trained in the Chernobyl fallout zone in Ukraine.

"Everyone is very happy to have this safely out of Iraq," said a senior U.S. official who outlined the nearly three-month operation to The Associated Press. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject....

Conservatives more honest than liberals?

The headline may seem like a trick question — even a dangerous one — to ask during an election year. And notice, please, that I didn’t ask whether certain politicians are more honest than others. (Politicians are a different species altogether.) Yet there is a striking gap between the manner in which liberals and conservatives address the issue of honesty.

Consider these results:

Is it OK to cheat on your taxes? A total of 57 percent of those who described themselves as “very liberal” said yes in response to the World Values Survey, compared with only 20 percent of those who are “very conservative.” When Pew Research asked whether it was “morally wrong” to cheat Uncle Sam, 86 percent of conservatives agreed, compared with only 68 percent of liberals.

Ponder this scenario, offered by the National Cultural Values Survey: “You lose your job. Your friend’s company is looking for someone to do temporary work. They are willing to pay the person in cash to avoid taxes and allow the person to still collect unemployment. What would you do?”

Almost half, or 49 percent, of self-described progressives would go along with the scheme, but only 21 percent of conservatives said they would.

When the World Values Survey asked a similar question, the results were largely the same: Those who were very liberal were much more likely to say it was all right to get welfare benefits you didn’t deserve.

The World Values Survey found that those on the left were also much more likely to say it is OK to buy goods that you know are stolen. Studies have also found that those on the left were more likely to say it was OK to drink a can of soda in a store without paying for it and to avoid the truth while negotiating the price of a car.

Another survey by Barna Research found that political liberals were two and a half times more likely to say that they illegally download or trade music for free on the Internet.

A study by professors published in the American Taxation Association’s Journal of Legal Tax Research found conservative students took the issue of accounting scandals and tax evasion more seriously than their fellow liberal students. Those with a “liberal outlook” who “reject the idea of absolute truth” were more accepting of cheating at school, according to another study, involving 291 students and published in the Journal of Education for Business.

A study in the Journal of Business Ethics involving 392 college students found that stronger beliefs toward “conservatism” translated into “higher levels of ethical values.” And academics concluded in the Journal of Psychology that there was a link between “political liberalism” and “lying in your own self-interest,” based on a study involving 156 adults.

Liberals were more willing to “let others take the blame” for their own ethical lapses, “copy a published article” and pass it off as their own, and were more accepting of “cheating on an exam,” according to still another study in the Journal of Business Ethics.

Now, I’m not suggesting that all conservatives are honest and all liberals are untrustworthy. But clearly a gap exists in the data. Why? The quick answer might be that liberals are simply being more honest about their dishonesty.

However attractive this explanation might be for some, there is simply no basis for accepting this explanation. Validation studies, which attempt to figure out who misreports on academic surveys and why, has found no evidence that conservatives are less honest. Indeed, validation research indicates that Democrats tend to be less forthcoming than other groups.

The honesty gap is also not a result of “bad people” becoming liberals and “good people” becoming conservatives. In my mind, a more likely explanation is bad ideas. Modern liberalism is infused with idea that truth is relative. Surveys consistently show this. And if truth is relative, it also must follow that honesty is subjective.

Sixties organizer Saul Alinsky, who both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton say inspired and influenced them, once said the effective political advocate “doesn’t have a fixed truth; truth to him is relative and changing, everything to him is relative and changing. He is a political relativist.”

During this political season, honesty is often in short supply. But at least we can improve things by accepting the idea that truth and honesty exist. As the late scholar Sidney Hook put it, “the easiest rationalization for the refusal to seek the truth is the denial that truth exists.”

I guess we can file this one right next to the previous study showing conservatives are more generous and give more to charity than liberals...

Economics 101: The Price of Gas

Gas prices are up and oil executives are once again testifying before Congress. Clearly, many politicians, pundits, and consumers lament the rising cost of gas. Before we join them in their chorus, let us take a step back and ask this question: Are gas prices really all that high?

A change in price can be a result of inflation, taxes, changes in supply and demand, or any combination of the three.

First, we need to take into account inflation. The result of the Federal Reserve printing too much money is a loss of purchasing power of the dollar: something that cost $1.00 in 1950 would cost about $8.78 today. As for gas prices, in 1950 the price of gas was approximately 30 cents per gallon. Adjusted for inflation, a gallon of gas today should cost right at $2.64, assuming taxes are the same.

But taxes have not stayed the same. The tax per gallon of gas in 1950 was roughly 1.5% of the price. Today, federal, state, and local taxes account for approximately 20% of gas's posted price. Taking inflation and the increase in taxes into account (assuming no change in supply or demand) the same gallon of gas that cost 30 cents in 1950 should today cost about $3.13.

Neither have supply or demand remained constant. The world economy is growing. China and India are obvious examples. At the same time, Americans continue to love driving SUVs and trucks. As for supply, we are prohibited (whatever the reasons may be) from using many of the known oil reserves in our own country. Furthermore, due to government regulation, the last oil refinery built in the United States was completed in 1976. In addition, the Middle East is politically unstable which leads to a risk premium on the world's major source of oil. It is obvious that the demand for oil has grown while supplies have been restricted.

The average price of gas in the United States today is approximately $3.25. The question is, why are gas prices not higher than they are?

Blaming greedy oil companies on the rising price of gas is simply irresponsible. The profit margins of a few selected industries are as follows:

Periodical Publishing	24.9%
Shipping	18.8%
Application Software	22.5%
Tobacco	19%
Water Utilities	10.2%
Major Integrated Oil and Gas	9.5%
Hospitals	1.4%
Drugstores	2.8%

The water utility industry has higher profit margins than major oil and gas firms! Why isn't every CEO with profit margins above that of the oil companies made to testify before Congress for "price gouging"? Clearly, greedy corporate profits are not the issue.

Again, while just over nine percent of the price of a gallon of gas goes to oil company profits, approximately twenty percent of the price of a gallon of gas is composed of federal, state, and local taxes.

Those who want the government to step in and do something about the high price of gas are either forgetful of recent history or too young to remember the oil crisis of 1979. During that time, restrictions on the price of gasoline led to the inability of some to find gas at all. Price ceilings always lead to shortages. The only thing worse than having to pay "too much" for gas is not being able to find gas at any price.

Let us not be swayed by politicians out for power or by reporters out to create news where none exists. Facts and economic logic should prevail rather than rhetoric.

Well once again the RNC has handed us a shit candidate for president.

From this point on I am no longer a Republican. I am now an Independent, still conservative, but Independent. Being a conservative means having principles, and one of those principles is NOT "winning at any cost". And a "win" with McCain is a cost to dear to pay. And I cannot consider that event a "win".

I now know how Reagan must have felt when he said, "I didn't leave the Democratic party, they left me". And so has the Republican party left me.

I will continue to vote for Conservatives (when offered that choice) no matter the party affiliation. I will vote this November for conservatives in the House and Senate, but will vote Hillary for president. I do this with a heavy heart and much saddness.
I could go on and note every thing McCain has done against us, but you all know the drill.
McCain has spent his entire career poking Republicans in general, and Conservatives in particular in the eye with a sharp stick. Now he wants us to forget all about it and reward him with the presidency.

I cannot forget, nor will I reward him with that position.

If he IS elected, the Republicans in congress will be forced to go along with every bullshit plan he proposes. Some may through misguided party loyalty, but most will because the RNC will hold re-election funds and other sticks over their heads to enforce party unity.
Hillary is the only answer. At least Republicans will know enough to oppose her and will not be punished for it.

This SHOULD be a major wake up call for Conservatives. The blame is to be placed squarely on the RNC. They have allowed our candidates to be filtered through the left before we even get to vote on them. A MAJOR shakeup is required at the RNC.
Even in spite of Republicans repeatedly getting elected when they stick to conservative values, they somehow STILL think the way to get elected is to emulate liberals.

Here's what I think needs to happen:

First, WHY OH WHY do we have to follow the Democrats around in primaries? Forget Iowa and New Hampshire. Let's have OUR opening primaries in Conservative stronghold states. That way, when we get to days like "Super Tuesday" we will have some good conservatives still in the race.

Second, ELIMINATE "open vote" primaries. Lets make ALL Republican primaries registered Republicans ONLY.

As long as we allow the liberals to tell us who our candidates will be, we will NEVER EVER get the candidates who we can FULLY support and elect.

"Whenever I go to a website like Daily Kos I can feel the overwhelming heat of their anger at anyone who disagrees with them. Also many left leaning commenters on conservative blogs cannot conceal their bitter anger at Bush and anyone who supports him. For all the angry cries about the loss of personal liberties, I have yet to see anyone come forward and offer a specific complaint.

"This blog thread is about a week out of date, but I decided to post it anyway.
I was reading comments in an online blog recently and I came across a comment by a conservative commenter in a thread about the 50 Presidential Scholar children who handed Bush a letter asking him to stop torturing. The comment was as follows."

"When torture is outlawed, only outlaws will use torture!"
-Would a Conservative ACTUALLY say something this stupid? Or was it a liberal being sarcastic?

"We all have seen this quote before. Its a favorite of the RNC and the NRA for defending gun ownership rights and bumperstickers bearing these words adorn pickups throughout the south."

-Liberal elitism. Worfy just loves rolling in that, he likes to fling around terms like "inbred", "redneck" and "trailerpark", but wait, aren't "rednecks" and people who live in "trailerparks" Americans too?, Oh well second rate ones with Worf and the liberals I suppose.

"But what kind of logic really exists in that tired slogan, particularly when applied to torture?"
-Uh, that would be NONE when applied to "torture".

"That slogan leaves many questions, ..."
-Only to the "nuanced" left evidently...

"as does the act of torture itself."

-Brace yourself, he really goes off the deep end here:

-Yes, and since MURDER is already outlawed, only outlaws commit murder.
And this invalidates the NRA's slogan how exactly?

Only a liberal could equate an inanimate object with a personal action.

(This is reminiscent of how they hate big gas guzzlers, so whenever the media reports an accident or a crime involving a SUV it's always "An SUV killed someone today", like it couldn't have somehow been the driver maybe?)

-Is he getting to a glimmer of truth here?, no it's Worf remember.

-Torture wrong "under ANY circumstances"? What if we know for a fact that he's an evil son of a bitch who has committed many attrocities and is about to commit another?

-I'd say YES!

"Well, in the same vein I ask, what if that same person had information that would save 10,000 lives from being killed, and the terrorist wouldn’t break under torture, but he offers to provide it if you let him rape a 6 year old girl."
-Notice he has to bring in an innocent and uninvolved third party to try to make his thesis work, everyone knows that unless you're talking about Mohammed, torture and the rape of children are two entirely different things. (execpt for the children, to whom that WOULD be torture...)

"Would you do that?"
-Uh, NO! we're TORTURING him, not helping him get his rocks off, or allowing him to torture someone else much less an innocent 6 year old.

"Would it be “worth it”, to let a 6 year old girl be raped mercilessly while you watch, so that 10,000 Americans could keep from dying today, instead of sometime down the road? And if so I ask, what kind of people are these 10,000, who would be ok with living longer if a 6 year old girl had to be raped to do it? What sort of person would be ok living under those circumstances?"
-Gee Worf, this is a pretty safe statement to make, after all what sane person could live with themselves? What OBVIOUSLY warped segment of society would be OK with this?

"Are such lives worthy of being spared?"
-As I've said, NO.

"And if so, is the guy your torturing the right guy?"
-I said, "If we know for a fact..."

"Is he a terrorist or an innocent college student with the same name?"
-This "innocent college student" wants to rape a 6 year old girl why?

"Will he tell you the truth, or just tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear that will make him stop hurting you?"
-He'll tell the truth eventually when he knows we're going to check it out before letting him go back to his cell.

"Will the information he has be valid, or will he be missing a peice of the puzzle?"
-He better hope it's valid.

"Will you be competent and capable enough to stop it even if he does give you correct information, or will the event play out before your impotent eyes?"
-We'll probably stop some, and some we may not. And the ones we stop are worth it.

"Is torturing helpless human beings the only way Americans can survive now?"
-No, and it's not the ONLY method we use.

"Is tortuing helpless human beings what Americans are about?"
-From watching TV I think Americans are about stopping ACNE.
Of course not stupid, but if one small thing helps our police and military it should be part of the arsenal.

"50 Presidential Scholars who met with Mr Bush as a reward for their scholastic acheivements, asked and answered these questions for Mr Bush last week. He didn't get it."
-Yes he did. I believe he replied, "we don't torture". And we don't. We DO however do "coerced interrogations" and the CIA and NSA and the military say it works.

Also, the IQ's of these children are irrelevant. While they MAY be intelligent they have yet to gain real world and life experience.

"How we, as a country answer these questions, will determine who we are, and more importantly, who we are not."
-More self aggrandizing tripe. This from one of the same people who claim we SHOULD be in Darfur to stop the genocide. Iraq was just as bad and we are THERE now. The difference you ask? Simple. Currently we have no national interest in Darfur, and our military is only supposed to be used to protect national interests.

Currently the only good war to a liberal is one in which we have no national interests in being in.

(nevertheless, we may yet go to Darfur, and if we do, what do you want to bet they'll still be screaming about invading "sovereign nations" and "not a threat to us"?)

See, Worfy and his brethren in the church of constant preaching and whiny stompy feet, like to point out the atrocities that happen during our presence while completely ignoring the atrocities that happen during our absence.

Can you imagine these people meeting their maker? He'll ask why they stood by and did nothing while his children were dying in remote parts of the world, and they'll say, "Hey, my hands are clean".

I'm pretty sure that AlGore and his leftist buddies will be relieved to hear this.

This is really an excellent piece. I was expecting goofy right-wing propaganda, but this is extremely compelling. It explains all the aspects of the outrageous global warming hoax, from the multi-billion dollar business and politics motivating it to the serious science. The video includes some really big names, like one of the co-founders of Greenpeace, a scientist primarily responsible for atmospheric measurements, a scientist who threatened to sue unless the UN goons removed his name from the bogus IPCC report, etc.

One of the most sinister aspects of the hoax is how there is a mob frenzy which ridicules and ruins anyone who dares disagree with the great and powerful Global Warming Wizards. This is what I instinctively felt all along. This has nothing to do with science and everything to do with the leftist political agenda. However I was surprised that my heroine Margaret Thatcher had such a significant role to play (I forgive you Maggie baby).

Finally someone observes what I could see all along from the data: Between 1940-1975 the earth cooled while the most dramatic anthropomorphic production of CO2 was occurring.

The piece also shows how CO2 production follows global warming by about 800 years; and how the most dramatic cause of the global warming is solar activity and its impact on cosmic rays which in turn affect cloud production.

This is a fantastic breath of fresh air and a beacon of truth about Global Warming. Bravo.

Democrats in Congress have been busy flexing their foreign policy muscles almost from the moment they took power in January, for the most part responsibly. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) crossed a line this week by visiting Syria, where she met with President Bashar Assad. She violated a long-held understanding that the United States should speak with one official voice abroad - even if the country is deeply divided on foreign policy back home.

Like it or not (and we do not),

President Bush's policy has been to refuse to negotiate with Syria until it changes its behavior. That behavior is malignant. Syria has long meddled destructively in neighboring Lebanon and is widely seen as the bloody hand behind the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri. Syria has aligned itself with Iran and supports the violently anti- Israel groups Hezbollah and Hamas. It foments violence in Iraq by allowing suicide bombers and jihadists to cross the Syria-Iraq border.

Pelosi surely knew that as speaker - third in the succession line to the presidency - her high-profile presence in Damascus would be read as a contradiction of Bush's no-talkpolicy. No matter that she claimed to have stuck closely to administration positions in her conversations with Assad, smiling photos of Pelosi and the Syrian president convey the unspoken message that while the U.S. president is unwilling to talk with Syria, another wing of the government is. Assad made good use of the moment.

Also along was House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Tom Lantos (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., who said the meeting was "only the beginning of our constructive dialogue with Syria, and we hope to build on this visit." That suggested Democrats are going beyond unobjectionable fact-finding and getting-to-know-you conversation into something closer to negotiations, undermining U.S. diplomacy.

If there's any justification for Pelosi's trip, it is that foreign travel by members of Congress is important. Many come to office with little knowledge of the world and soon need to make important decisions about it. This was starkly evident in December when the congressman Pelosi chose to head the critical House Intelligence Committee revealed that he didn't know the difference between Sunnis and Shiites - knowledge critical to understanding Iraq and the war on terrorism.

The speaker presumably is better informed. Pelosi said she made the trip because the bipartisan Iraq Study Group urged greater engagement with Syria. That argument is strengthened by the fact that Assad also got visits this week from several House Republicans, who defied White House requests they not go. "I don't care what the administration says on this," said Rep. Frank Wolf (news, bio, voting record), R-Va. "I want us to be successful in Iraq. I want us to clamp down on Hezbollah."

But Wolf can travel to Syria virtually undetected. Pelosi has an international profile. That guarantees her heavy media coverage but multiplies the price of a misstep, which she quickly made when she created confusion about how eager Israel is to resume peace talks with Syria. Israel immediately clarified her remarks.

Pelosi's office defended her trip by noting that the "administration's cold-shoulder approach has yielded nothing but more Syrian intransigence." As true as that is, the place for Pelosi to make the case is not in Damascus. It's not up to the speaker to unfreeze relations with Assad.

The Prime Minister’s Office has strongly denied that Israel relayed a message to Syria, accepting its calls to renew peace negotiations.

The bureau responded to questions raised yesterday by a statement made by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, following a meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad. Pelosi said she had relayed a message from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, to the effect that Israel was ready for peace talks with Syria.

The Prime Minister’s Office was quick to issue a denial, stating that “what was discussed with the House speaker did not include any change in Israel’s policy, as it has been presented to international parties involved in the matter.”

In a special statement of clarification, the bureau stressed that Olmert had told Pelosi that Israel continued to regard Syria as “part of the axis of evil and a party encouraging terrorism in the entire Middle East.”

According to sources at the Prime Minister’s Office, “Pelosi took part of the things that were said in the meeting, and used what suited her.”

The same sources explained that the decision to issue a statement of denial stemmed from questions from Israeli and foreign press regarding a change in Israel’s official stance on negotiations with Syria…

The Prime Minister’s Office said: “We have not intervened in the internal debate in the United States and we did not harm anyone. We simply announced what had taken place in the meeting [Olmert-Pelosi] on the basis of notes that are identical to those Pelosi has.” …
