GLOBAL WARMING? * DEBATE HEATING UP

Has anyone else been following the circus and fallout regarding the Weather Channel's Heidi Cullen calling for decertification of a meterologists who are skeptical the man is responsible for Global Warming?

If you haven't heard of this call for silencing dissent, and that is what it is, (When you threaten someone with decertification of his or her professional credentials you're saying shut up or we won't allow you to make a living or support your family.) here is the post that started it all and a couple of responses.

"If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn't give them a Seal of Approval. Clearly, the AMS doesn't agree that global warming can be blamed on cyclical weather patterns..."

AND

"It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise and tsunamis are caused by the weather. It's not a political statement...it's just an incorrect statement," Cullen added."

Cullen's Blog

This caused one poster to observe "Hurricanes (Cyclones) in the Southern Hemisphere do rotate clockwise."

Cullen also on her TV program "The Climate Code" had as a guest Dave Roberts of Grist Magazine who has called for Nuremberg style trials and the death penalty for scientists who are skeptical of man caused Global Warming.

This led to the following response from a AMS certified meterologist on his blog:

The Weather Channel Mess

January 18, 2007 | James Spann | Op/Ed
Well, well. Some “climate expert” on “The Weather Channel” wants to take away AMS certification from those of us who believe the recent “global warming” is a natural process. So much for “tolerance”, huh?
I have been in operational meteorology since 1978, and I know dozens and dozens of broadcast meteorologists all over the country. Our big job: look at a large volume of raw data and come up with a public weather forecast for the next seven days. I do not know of a single TV meteorologist who buys into the man-made global warming hype. I know there must be a few out there, but I can’t find them. Here are the basic facts you need to know:
*Billions of dollars of grant money is flowing into the pockets of those on the man-made global warming bandwagon. No man-made global warming, the money dries up. This is big money, make no mistake about it. Always follow the money trail and it tells a story. Even the lady at “The Weather Channel” probably gets paid good money for a prime time show on climate change. No man-made global warming, no show, and no salary. Nothing wrong with making money at all, but when money becomes the motivation for a scientific conclusion, then we have a problem. For many, global warming is a big cash grab.
*The climate of this planet has been changing since God put the planet here. It will always change, and the warming in the last 10 years is not much difference than the warming we saw in the 1930s and other decades. And, lets not forget we are at the end of the ice age in which ice covered most of North America and Northern Europe.
If you don’t like to listen to me, find another meteorologist with no tie to grant money for research on the subject. I would not listen to anyone that is a politician, a journalist, or someone in science who is generating revenue from this issue.
In fact, I encourage you to listen to WeatherBrains episode number 12, featuring Alabama State Climatologist John Christy, and WeatherBrains episode number 17, featuring Dr. William Gray of Colorado State University, one of the most brilliant minds in our science.
WeatherBrains, by the way, is our weekly 30 minute netcast.
I have nothing against “The Weather Channel”, but they have crossed the line into a political and cultural region where I simply won’t go."

And critics ARE being silenced. Here is an excerpt from
SENATOR INHOFE to the congress on the IPCC:

"...The flaws in the IPCC process began to manifest themselves in the first assessment, but did so in earnest when the IPCC issued its second assessment report in 1996. The most obvious was the altering of the document on the central question of whether man is causing global warming.

Here is what Chapter 8 – the key chapter in the report – stated on this central question in the final version accepted by reviewing scientists:

“No study to date has positively attributed all or part [of the climate change observed to date] to anthropogenic causes.”

But when the final version was published, this and similar phrases in 15 sections of the chapter were deleted or modified. Nearly all the changes removed hints of scientific doubts regarding the claim that human activities are having a major impact on global warming.

In the Summary for Policy Makers – which is the only part of the report that reporters and policy makers read – a single phrase was inserted. It reads:

“The balance of evidence suggests that there is a discernible human influence on global climate.”

The lead author for Chapter 8, Dr. Ben Santer, should not be held solely accountable. According to the journal Nature, the changes to the report were made in the midst of high-level pressure from the Clinton / Gore State Department to do so..."

(I hope that the fonts all came out correctly, I have to edit them in html because the post control panel seems to randomly pick and choose font, sizes, and between bold and italic....lol)

Hi FF, I noticed you posted on the LC blog so I hope you're around.

If I stepped on your toes with this thread, feel free to post another or add to or ammend this one.

Also, if you check the comments on the previous thread, I think someone's trying to convince Lydia that you are "the hacker".

On a funnier note, Worf is now proclaiming someone is posting as him, and that in so doing they MUST have access to his account at google.
I don't know if he's thought of this, computer genius as he is, but if you can falsely link someones alias to a website could'nt they also link it to his legitimate profile and NOT be accessing his account?

Hi Volt,

Excellent article. I heard about this on Fox News the day after I read about:

Bjørn Lomborg (born January 6, 1965) is an Adjunct Professor at the Copenhagen Business School and a former director of the Environmental Assessment Institute in Copenhagen. He became internationally-known for his best-selling and controversial book The Skeptical Environmentalist. After the book's publication, members of the Danish scientific community accused Lomborg of scientific dishonesty. These allegations were investigated by appropriate arms of the Danish government and in the end, no official charges were left standing.
-Wikipedia

Liberals want to censor everyone who does not fall into lockstep behind global warming. I am going to find out everything I can about global warming; this whole thing stinks.

Something is going on here that has nothing to do with scientists on a quest for truth.

BTW, apparently WR censored me tonight on the LC blog. While I could continue to comment in one session, I could not start a new one. All the while WR was threatening me with censorship, and Leisure Suit was having an orgasm.

Interesting also that goofy, hypocritical GIJ accuses me of "theft" for my choice of icon, whereas his habit is to routinely cut-and-paste entire articles into the blog, sometimes without attribution -- an act of plagiarism, not to mention an egregious violation of blog courtesy.

Hola Everyone!!

Just got back from Cancun and am barely a functioning unit.

I havent partied that hard since I was a teenager; very little sleep and unbelievable amounts of drinking has turned most of my brain cells to lime jello, thus I need a couple days to recuperate.

Looks like I have to catch up on some interesting reading. Also, its strange how one thinks of the blogs while even on vacation.

I,ll be back soon to help rip some pink turban.

Thanx for reposting my comment Lydia.....I owe you one! Pol Pot Worf is out of control with his deep love of socialism and its deadly lack of the most basic of human rights....... silencing the opposition by not allowing others to express their opinions is a recipe for disaster and simply does not work!

Two voices MUST be heard and allowed to express their minds/opinions thus preventing either party from becoming to powerful....its called democracy! Sometimes Free Speech and differing views produces ugly confrontations, but it is, nonetheless, a must.......PERIOD!

Pol Pot worf once barked he would defend his right to Freedom of Speech to his last breath, but now he is nothing more than a deeply neurotic, power obsessed, loser on a celebrity blog cowardly forcing others with his pathetic delete button to accept his version of making the trains run on time.

Im sorry Lydia, but dont you find it just a little disturbing the amount of time he spends on here? Just take a private moment and really think about it.....its not normal!

Also, I dont believe for one second anyone on here is the hacker. For all we know it could be any wacko of possible millions.

If it does turn out to be a republican silencing trick, they will have lost my respect forever.

But seriously, I must admit I have never seen such excellent weather in my entire life up here in Canada. We virtually had no snow until mid January and actually had temperatures up in the teens for many weeks.

Whether this is due to human negligience or solar flares I really dont know, but it is very odd considering the U.S had lots of the white stuff?

I posted this on the other blog. Let's how long its owner (or her minions), who professes to believe in free speech, leaves it up

------
It's important to 'keep hate alive'
January 26, 2007

Destroying a president is not much of a strategy to win a war, but it's all the Democrats have.
The churls of the left don't seem to care whether their country wins the war, the important thing is to "keep hate alive." If hate worked in '06, maybe it will work again in '08, when the stakes will be considerably higher.
Sometimes it's not only hate, but a bit of schadenfreude, too, taking pleasure in the woes of the enemy. "Partisan pleasure in George Bush's pain dates to the anguish of the contested 2000 election loss," observes Daniel Henninger in the Wall Street Journal. "The Democrats have run against something called 'Bush' for so long this sentiment is now bound up in any act or policy remotely attached to the president. Iraq's troubles, or Iran or North Korea, are merely an artifact of crushing this one guy."
The president's tormentors in Congress, some old and some new, insist they don't have anything against the fine young Americans with their lives on the line in Iraq, but the troops are dispensable to the larger partisan goal of destroying George W. and abdicating the responsibility that comes with being the world's only superpower. If the troops are hurt, too, well, that's just a risk the critics will have to endure.
Senators are leading the rush to judgment. Hillary Clinton, buoyed by the early polls that show her blowing Barack Obama out of the race, scoffs that the war she voted for is "a dead end." Susan Collins of Maine, a Republican, asks whether "the clock has already run out." The very point of her question is the smug assertion that of course it has. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, who has all but given up his ambition to be John McCain when he grows up, says the obvious: "We have anarchy in Iraq. It's getting worse." You can hear the glee in his voice. John Warner of Virginia, eager to demonstrate that he's no son of the hard, determined men who wrote the book on standing firm against all odds as a fabled army of northern Virginia, rushes to join partisans across the aisle to forge a resolution of regret, retreat and ruin. "Nonbinding," of course. Senators never bind themselves to anything but their egos and personal interests (which is why we haven't elected a senator as president in nearly half a century).
Sometimes a senator, oily and evasive as only senators can be, lets slip a remark that reveals all. David Gregory of NBC News provoked Chuck Schumer, the Democratic senator from New York, into such a revealing remark the other day. He reminded him of Vice President Cheney's description of the Senate resolution as something (a) the president wouldn't pay any attention to because (b) it would "be detrimental to the troops on the ground."
The senator thought he was only begging to differ when he replied: "Absolutely not, and I think it's going to be shown, when this resolution comes up, and it is nonbinding, that not only are we going to get a vast majority of Democrats to vote for it in one form or another, but close to the a majority of the Republicans."
The reporter pressed him to answer the question: "But how can the public really buy the Democrats' support of the troops but don't support the mission? How can you do both?"
How, indeed. How do you tell the troops that "we resolve, to paraphrase John Kerry, you're probably not much better than war criminals, but hey, guys, we support you." Mr. Schumer squirmed, and his face reflected just for an instant the look of a man cornered. "Well," he finally replied, "that's the difficulty. A resolution that says we're against this escalation, that's easy. The next step will be how do you put further pressure on the administration but still support the troops who are there? And that's what we're trying to figure out."
The fiercest critics of the commander in chief (the one the critics despise) and his troops (the ones the critics support) concede they don't have a clue about what the president should do in Iraq. "I can't tell you what the path to success is," says Norm Coleman, a Republican of Minnesota. Joe Biden, plagiarizing every other weak sister in town, says the "primary" strategy is to make the Iraqis "compromise" and "end the violence." Hillary says the president should "talk to bad people" to see what they want (the "bad people" have already said exactly what they want, loud and clear). John Edwards says he would get tough as president, and if talk doesn't work he'll talk some more.
But of course. Isn't that what senators do?

Pruden on Politics runs Tuesdays and Fridays.

Lydia, Worf is going to ruin your blog. MARK MY WORDS. I may go quietly into the night, but sure a shit, someone less even tempered than me will not take this.

At the end of the day, it is your blog, not mine nor anyone else's. You watch. You permit this big fish in a tiny tiny pond to prove what abig man he is by deleting pertinant posts (I was responding to your comment), someone with a temper will come along. I hope that never happens, but we've seen some pretty crazy and angry sounding dudes here. But you will have no problem with me. Just say the word, not through Worfeus, and I'll leave.

At least be a grown woman and tell me I am not welcome here.

Johnny moo moo said...

Its over TT! I cant even post a very civil comment about saving the earth and Worf deletes it.

I suggest the only thing to do now is relax, take a trip, have a couple beers, and wait to see if their love thy enemy/dont worry about it, everything will be OK if we just communicate philosophy proves to be our salvation........you know, the sane admirable qualities they display regularly on the blog.

Who knows, if Hillary uses just the right amount of love with the enemy in 2008, we may actually be lucky enough to witness her waving some sort of peace agreement around proudly announcing her negotiation/appeasement skills.......making us all feel much safer.

IrOnY RaGeD said...

Didn't Chamberlain wave around a peace agreement?

IrOnY RaGeD said...

Did you guys see where Kay Insane claimed that Lydia and her PAGAN friend were the two most spiritual people she knows?

Johnny moo moo said...

Of course Volt, the infamous Munich Agreement!

Dont you remember the scene where Chamberlain steps off the plane and victoriously waves the signed agreement around smiling ear to ear?

Hitler used to brag to those around him that he conquered a good portion of Europe without firing a shot.

Those who doubted his judgments were now astonished with his brilliant diplomatic skills, which did in fact yield excellent results.......few would go on to challenge any of his future decisions however incompetent; they placed blind faith in his leadership, thus sealing their fate.

After the fall of Poland, France, Norway, Czechoslovakia, etc....he was simply considered a God.

Actually, on a funny note, when I was in Cancun I gave two British chicks shit for taking to long at the buffet. Later, dining beside each other, I asked them what they thought of Neville Chamberlain? They said "Whos that?" Stunned, I explained.

A few days later, at the lobby bar, one of the British chicks approached me and said: "Whats that name again?"

You're right, Johnny. And, there's no sense in fighting in a burning house. I may check back here from time to time.

But, to recap, Lydia disagreed with my take on Bush's National Guard service, and I wrote a few paragraphs that summed up what I knew about the situation, including Dan Rather's disgraceful behaviour.

Then, I found an article that went into much greater detail about the situation and posted it. It was an article that was no longer than many of the cut and paste jobs we get from Clif on a regular basis and don't get deleted, and certainly shorter than the 73 paragraph post from Mike a couple of months ago. Well, my article was deleted.

On top of everything else, (like I said previously), I don't really care for waltzing into a boxing ring where the referee is also my opponent.

Since most of us (Consewrvatives) left that blog some weeks ago, the post count has gone down considerably. And it will continue as Worf alienates more and more people. He has actually admitted that there is no one in the world that he actually cared for. His WHOLE WORLD is Lydia's blog. It doesn't get more pathetic than that.

Lydia says she wants debate, but the actions of her trained monkey (Worf)tell another story. I tried to debate, and I was shut out.

Just think about the tens of hours that Worf puts into that blog ON A DAILY BASIS. It's not normal. It's sick. And indicative of an empty life. A blog should come on top of a full life, not as a substitute for one.

Freedom Fan said...

Hi Y'all.

I thought I'd check in. I had a family member pass away and have been preoccupied with other more important things.

Sounds like the LC blog has become worf's private dominion; not much to recommend it anymore.

Libs don't do well with the challenge of vigorous debate.

I heard that Stuart Smalley has left Air (head) Amerikka radio. That's what happens when there is no stimulating controversy; the result is terminal boredom. In the case of the radio show, we see an abject economic failure propped up by some rich, trust fund baby, left-wing ideologues.

Similarly, in the case of the LC blog we find libs swapping lies and wallowing in pathetic GWB hatred until their eyes glaze over and their souls burn out.

Worf is a "free-speech" advocate who hypocritically bans opposing viewpoints. He is a Bible scholar who is not religious.

Their blog is now run by this compulsive sociopath who has no life outside of cyberspace and who is persona non grata at a half-dozen friendly blogs.

Now all the LC bloggers must kiss his ring and genuflect. Hmm. What's wrong with this picture?

Your request is not unreasonable under normal situations, however, Ms. Cornell allows vulgar, slanderous, tasteless, unfair, below the belt attacks against the innocent from her band of cowardly sissy's. She enhances my attacks on adults to that of “unbelievable” while simultaneously lowering attacks on minors by her Jelly Gang to that of frivolous/insignificant.....shes very sneaky!

She neither scolds them or deletes their nefarious comments. Such silent approval leads me to conclude she encourages their immoral attacks.

I simply commented on preventing an ecological disaster and bravely announced our pics at Photo bucket - immediately sending the Cheeto sissy's into a wild frenzy of lowlife comments. I have no problem with attacks directed against me or the very nice girl in black & white as she is 26.

However, when I perform a well deserved blog beating against Carl,(an adult) Ms. Cornell suddenly meanders into the room voicing her opposition to my posts and instantly deletes all my comments, offering the Communist Jelly Boys her moral support and praise thereafter.

Had she immediately deleted all nefarious comments from both sides and distributed justice equally, there would be no problem. Calculatingly, she waits until I emotionally react to their minor stalking and low-life sissy comments.

If you do not recognize this injustice then I must reassess your powers of perception.

I will only apologize if she does?

Johnny moo moo said...

Also, FF, Lydia requested our pics around a year ago.........I nicely sent them to her! Her and Thumper have falsely accused me over and over again as to their origin inventing all kinds of nasty scenarios.

Thumper challenged me to hold up a sign saying JMM thus enabling Lydia to judge past & present pictures. .....I accepted his challenge as I’ve known everyone on the blog for well over a year.

After I posted the pics I did not so much as receive one apology for past accusations or a thank-you. Instead, the "Love thy neighbor Jelly Gang" have a field day picking on a minor.

May I suggest you create a stink over adults picking on minors........Bimbo aint that bad!

After all, she does support Thumper and his communism. Funny, is it not, how he is the original instigator/manipulator of unkind insults on the blog.......... pushin everyones buttons.......... yet she allows him complete control?

I stand firm ....period!

But if you wish to take away my Honorary American status you have kindly bestowed upon me for defending my offspring, so be it.

JMM,

You have a right to be angry. Just bear in mind that hers is, after all, a left wing blog -- it is only natural that she would show favoritism toward her supporters. Most blog owners, particularly the left wingers, would not be nearly so open minded in their toleration of the opposing viewpoints.

It is unwise to mention close family members in such a hostile environment; these folks clearly have no conscience and no character, as they demonstrate daily.

We all have been smeared with everything you can imagine ... nazis, murderers, child molesters, hackers, right-wing operatives, neocons, homosexuals, racists, bigots, etc., etc.

You just need rhino skin. The best defense is a good offense; but if you say something in bad taste, then you merely sink to the level of the liberal slimeballs.

So try to have fun, keep your perspective and sense of humor, and strive to amuse everyone at your opponents' expense.

Johnny moo moo said...

I know your right FF, I will make a bigger effort to not lower myself to their level.

Its not like I dont have other choices. And, I must admit even Volt composed himself rather well after such attacks.

I just dont understand how anyone can be that low?

I knew I should have stuck to reading Archie Comic books; too many deep stories of brave soldiers fighting valiantly have gotten to me.
